Xam'd: Lost Memories OP2 song - Back on my Feet by Boom Boom Satellites

Boom Boom Satellites
Since Xam'd is finally getting a TV broadcast version, there'll be a new OP theme song, but fear not, it is also by Boom Boom Satellites. Their previous OP for Xam'd entitled "Shut up and explode", was one of my favorite OP songs from the past season (Check out my review here). The new song is called "Back on my Feet" and the single is coming out the first of July.

Download the TV version of "Back on my feet" here.

9/10 By the looks of it, "Back on my feet" is as good or maybe even better than the first Opening song. Can't wait to hear the full version. In any case, even the TV version is nothing short of amazing!! Boom Boom Satellites have a unique sound and style, and this song is a good example of their awesomeness. I can't stop listening to their latest album EXPOSED, which is brilliant. Thank you Erias for making me discover this new Boom Boom Song!

Check out the awesome video sequence for the new OP:

Pandora Hearts OP Single - Parallel Hearts by FictionJunction

FictionJunctionThe Parallel Hearts Single has finally leaked (it's supposed to be released the 29th!)... It's always nice to have some fresh Yuki Kajiura songs, especially FictionJunction ones. And there's even a new FictionJunction YUUKA song on the single. What a treat!! In case you haven't heard my piano version of Parallel Hearts, here it is.

Tracklist

1. Parallel Hearts
2. Hitomi no Chikara (by FictionJunction YUUKA)
3. Parallel Hearts ~Instrumental~
4. Hitomi no Chikara ~Instrumental~

9/10 The full version of Parallel Hearts is of course even better than the TV-size version. I can't praise Yuki-sama enough for her awesome songs!!! I also really like the new YUUKA song, it's so nice they're doing songs together again... Even if I prefer the fast YUUKA songs, this one is still mesmerizing.

Check out the full PV, featuring Yuki Kajiura and FictionJunction:

Parallel Hearts CM - Pandora Hearts OP

Parallel HeartsHurray for some Yuki Kajiura related news! The Parallel Hearts CM for the Pandora Hearts anime just came out... Here's a sneak peak at the Parallel Hearts PV, featuring Yuki Kajiura on the piano and FictionJunction (which is now a group composed of Keiko, Wakana, Yuriko Kaida and Kaori). Parallel Hearts will be the first FictionJunction single, and I obviously can't wait for it! I also wonder, now that FictionJunction is a new group, does that mean it's the end for Kalafina?? Especially considering that Wakana and Keiko are parts of the 2 projects... Hmmm, I wonder. I would like both groups to exist, which would mean double the great songs!

And for those of you who still haven't seen the Pandora Hearts OP, here it is after the jump...

My Piano Cover of Kiseki - Birdy The Mighty Decode S2 OP

Ryvius and Birdy
It's been ages since my last piano cover (here). I hope you won't think I'm being lazy! I've actually been working on a lot of songs these days... So there should be a lot more piano covers coming soon! This one is a cover of the awesome Birdy The Mighty Decode S2 OP song by Nirgilis, entitled Kiseki (read my review here). I hope you guys will like it. It's a lot faster than most of the songs I usually play!

You can download the Mp3 version of my cover here.

Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z! OP 1 - Kibou No Kakera by Nana Kitade

One of Japan's fashion icons, the gothic lolita clad J-pop princess, Nana Kitade was responsible for performing the Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z first opening theme! Just found it out in an older Shojo Beat mag... :(

Photobucket

PPGZ is one of my earliest animes, a Japanese adaptation of the famous Cartoon Network's Powerpuff Girls. I saw it over the same network not too long ago and I suppose it'll be spreading more cuteness in the US this year.

I know it's crazy to even like these bunch of cute girls! I adore Bubbles the most! And speaking of crazy, Nana's PV of the same song is more crazier than I thought! Watch.

Honestly, I don't like her singing style that much. :( Maybe little kids do! Let's see what Ryvius think of it.

**********************************************************************************
Ryvius' Rating:
2/10 Hmmm, what a weird voice. For me it's the same feeling as nails on a blackboard. Or like someone being forced to sing out of a toilet. It's really atrocious! It's not cute at all... What were they thinking when they asked Nana Kitade to sing for the Powerpuff Girls. The adorable trio deserves much better. In any case, I really adored the original series' opening video sequence. Remember?? "Sugar, Spice and everything nice..." This song is definitely not nice!

Pandora Hearts OP song - Parallel Hearts by FictionJunction

Pandora HeartsYuki Kajiura has really been working her ass off lately... Here is yet another example of her strong work ethic. Two months ago, I did a post on the trailer music for Pandora Hearts (here), the latest anime lucky enough to have its music composed by anime music godess Kajiura-san. She's also doing the OP theme song, Parallel Hearts, sung by FictionJunction (more like FictionJunction Wakana to me)...

9/10 Parallel Hearts promises to be yet another epic song from Yuki Kajiura and FictionJunction. Like I mentioned in the introduction of this post, main vocalist here is Wakana yet again. She's become Yuki's current obsession... And who could blame her? Background vocalist is again Keiko (kalafina anyone?) and I'm sure Yuriko Kaida's there somewhere. The song has a wonderful tune and a very catchy chorus... I wonder what Yuki's secret ingredient is, for making all these great songs, one after the other.

Check out the OP song for Pandora Hearts here:

Maria Holic OP Single - HANAJI by Yu Kobayashi

Maria HolicI've heard a lot about Maria Holic. Apparently, it's the funniest anime this season... I think I'll have to check it out to see. Meanwhile, here's the Maria Holic OP theme song called HANAJI by Yu Kobayashi.

Tracklist:

1. HANAJI
2. HANAJI BLOOD EXPLOSION-MIX
3. HANAJI (Original Karaoke)
4. HANAJI BLOOD EXPLOSION-MIX (Original Karaoke)

7/10 HANAJI is funky, fast-paced and very funny song. It reminds me of the Kemeko Deluxe theme songs... I love the way Yu Kobayashi (who voices Mariya Shido) sings it. She does a fantastic job at staying in character. It also helps a lot that the lyrics are really funny. You can check them out at the end of this post.

Check out the full OP song and the lyrics here:

Lyrics(English):

Blushing, getting exciting
Getting Hot my heart races!!
It gonna burst out, it’s gonna shoot out!
My heart is at High Tension!

I came here searching for my destined one, but
rolling up my sleeves, it’s hard choosing a girl.
These flowers are all at full bloom,
I’m so happy~♥ I’m caught in blooming [season]!

But why, why did he have to find out my secret?
He looks so pushy~

I was found out by him, I’m coming out…
I’m being attacked, I’m being tormented! STOP IT! STOP IT! AH♥HA~N

I’m driven up to a corner! I’m getting abused by him!
He handles me with the carrot and stick policy… *
I’m being tormented~♥ so much that I want to run,
but his face is so my type!!

Sobbing, getting hot,
raging, IT’S SO EXCITING!
It gonna burst out, it’s gonna shoot out!
Nosebleed at High Tension!

My delusion mode is in good shape right?
My screams too are wound up in joy…
My harem’s state gets me called a ‘bug’
but even if, I’m entranced by it!

I won’t touch them with the hand of my heart,
I’ll nonchalantly get a hold of them~

I was jerked out, I’m coming out!
I WANT TO BE BURIED DEEP WAY DEEP! A♥HA~n!

My hobby is to play with
with a neglige wearing baby doll,
even if you understand, even if I’m spoken ill of,
I’ll seriously still be tempted to do it!

Blushing, getting exciting
Getting Hot my heart races!!
It gonna burst out, it’s gonna shoot out!
My heart is at High Tension!

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei OP (TV-size) - Super scription of data by Eiko Shimamiya

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni ReiHurray, another Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Series!! Well technically it's not a TV-series, just an OVA with 5 episodes, but still... I can't wait to see some blood and spilled guts! I really enjoyed the 2 series. Unfortunately, the first episode of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei felt a bit off. What's with the goofy swimming-pool episode?? I hope we'll get to see some torture and gore in the next episodes, hehe...

Like in the previous installments, the awesome Eiko Shimamiya does the opening theme song which is entitled "Super scription of data"! I know what you're thinking! What a ridiculous name...

6.5/10 I'm not sure what to think of "Super scription of data"... I really loved the previous Higurashi OPs, and this one isn't as good in my opinion. It's still a good song, but something is lacking. I guess I'll have to listen to the full version to make my finale review...

The OP in HD and the lyrics are after the cut:

Lyrics (English):

Shall I tell you?
Promise me that you won’t say it
To anyone else besides us here
Let’s make a pinky swear on it
And if you lie, may you swallow a thousand needles

While it remains folded-up
Look up at the wriggling story
And show it to me
In the past and future, too
Super scription of data

Lyrics (Romaji):

Oshiemashou ka?
Sono moto igai wa dare ni mo
Iwanai yakusokushite ne
Yubikiri genman
Uso tsuitara hari senbon

Oritatamareta mama
Ugomeite iru monogatari o
Miagete misete yo
Kako mo mirai mo
Super scription of data

Lyrics (Kanji):

教えましょうか?
その元以外は誰にも
言わない約束してね
指切りげんまん
嘘ついたら針千本

折り畳まれたまま
蠕いている物語を
見上げて見せてよ
過去も未来も

Cardcaptor Sakura 3rd OP - Platinum by Maaya Sakamoto

A Yoko Kanno composition interpreted by the genial Maaya Sakamoto. Platinum or Purachina probably is the most loved CCS opening theme if I were to be asked! Ah, those Cardcaptor Sakura days!

**********************************************************************************
Ryvius' Rating:
7.5/10 Anything by Yoko Kanno and Maaya Sakamoto is synonymous to masterpiece for me! Ever since Yakusoku wa Iranai (their first collaboration for Escaflowne), I have been a huge fan of both Yoko Kanno and Maaya Sakamoto... I don't think I've ever heard even one bad song from those two together. Even if Platinum isn't my favorite YokoxMaaya song, it's still very good. What I've always liked about Yoko Kanno is her amazing orchestral and string arrangements. Both her J-Pop songs and BGM tracks have that in common, which is actually quite rare. Composers generally don't bother making complex string arrangements for pop songs anymore...

**********************************************************************************

Look what I found! It's a younger Maaya singing Platinum live in a classic video! She really is oozing cool! :3

Grab the single [ here ] and the Platinum lyrics hereafter:

English

I'm a dreamer...
Hidden power...

My world
is made of dreams, love, and worries.
But there are still things lying hidden
that I can't even imagine

Facing the sky, like all the different trees,
I'm gazing right at you.

I want to find my dream... I want to make it come true...
There is nothing that I can't overcome
if I only believe.
Just like singing, just like miracles,
"feelings" can change everything!
Without a doubt... Without a doubt...
It's almost surprising!

I'm a dreamer...
Hidden power...

A world yet unseen...
No matter what awaits me there,
even if it's not the ideal,
I won't be afraid.

The birds travel on the wind
on a journey from today to tomorrow.

I want to tell you... I want to shout it...
I am but one entity in this world.
But like a prayer, like a star,
even with a small light, someday,
I want to be
stronger and stronger.

There are limitless possibilities,
right here in my grasp.
(It's gonna be your world.)

I want to find my dream... I want to make it come true...
There is nothing that I can't overcome,
if I only believe.
Just like singing, just like miracles,
"feelings" can change everything!
Without a doubt... Without a doubt...
It's almost surprising!

Birdy the Mighty Decode:02 OP Single - kiseki by Nirgilis

Birdy Decode OPI've never watched this show, but every time I see the title, it's always cracking me up! What a ridiculous name for a show. How can an investigator named Birdy be taken seriously? haha. Well apparently it's a good show... Anyway the OP song for the second season is called kiseki and is sung by one of my favorite J-Pop groups Nirgilis (Eureka Seven anyone??).

Tracklist:

1. kiseki
2. I Love You
3. kiseki (Original Instrumental)

8.5/10 Nirgilis' songs are always so good! I don't know if it's the singer's voice or the catchy tunes that always make me instantly love all their songs... This song is yet another example of why I love their music. kiseki is a really energetic and poppy song with a great melody. The second song from the single, entitled "I love you" is also very good and makes great use of a sampling from a Mozart tune (excerpt of the magic flute opera). Check it out guys!

The full PV for the song is after the cut:

Casshern Sins Special Complete

Casshern Sins Special CompleteWhile most of us are waiting impatiently for the Casshern Sins OST, here's something that can make the wait more bearable: A special compilation album entitled "Casshern Sins Special Complete". It includes the TV versions of the OPs and EDs from Casshern Sins, some of the insert songs, BGM tracks, and the OP for the original Casshern series from 1973. It's a basically a Casshern pot-pourri!

Tracklist

1. Aoi Hana (TV Version)
2. reason (TV Version)
3. Hikari to Kage(TV Version)
4. Aoi Kage (Inst.Version)
5. Paradise Lost
6. LUNA
7. SKY
8. A Path (Inst.Version)
9. Aoi Kage (Ballad Version)
10. Aoi Kage (Original KARAOKE)
11.Tatakae! CASSHERN(Bonus Track)
12.Tatakae! CASSHERN(Bonus Track)

6/10 All I can say after listening to this album, is that I can't wait for the "real" Casshern Sins OST! It's like they're teasing us with this album. I don't quite understand the logic of it. Why don't we have the full version of the beautiful insert song "a path" by Nami Miyahara (see my posts on the insert songs here)?? The Instrumental version is fine, but the real version would have been better! Thank god, they gave us SKY which is awesome. My favorite track of the album is LUNA, such a wonderful and sad song!! I'm not a big fan of OP for the original Casshern series by Isao Sasaki though. Too cheesy for my taste!

After the cut, the OP sequence from the original Casshern series:

Ride Back OP Single - Ride Back by MELL

Mell - RidebackYay, the full Ride Back OP single is finally out. This is one of my favorite songs this season... I reviewed the TV-version here. Now I can sink my teeth into the full version of the song... (Thank you Zirante!)

Tracklist:

1. Ride Back
2. Ride Back - Japanese version
3. Ride Back - remix version
4. Ride Back - instrumental version

The full PV and the lyrics are after the cut:

English Lyrics: (thank you Zirante!)

Squeez'n step on it hard
Try to feel my heart beat
High, as high as you can
All your blood will turn to fountain water

We're surrounded by plot in this universe
Wash away the stain of blood with tears
We cannot look, or they will spell on you
Wind of fuego will lead us through

I found the light, was real, I am united
I found guide-in line in the raging world
There you see, in the sky, even in this insane world
Ride on Back
All we need is your sympathy
We make the history of our own

I dance blindly in a cage
She was beaten to the ground
Streets are filled with lies
No one knows what's right and what is wrong

So you think we are one peaceful nation
Did you imagine this starvation?
Why we stain the love when we need it
We are fed up with your opinion

Stars fall out of the sky, words turned into lies
Drunk with power, they forced us to hate
I sacrifice all my life. The evolution was so wrong
he heart it yearns, for a love that's pure and true
The place, it crumbles to the ground

Yes I can, No I can't. I must go
Or should I stay? I cried hard
Is that me? But no more tears

Yes I can, No I can't. I must go
Or should I stay? I cried hard
Is that me? Ready go yes!!!

I found the light, was real, I am united
I found guide-in line in the raging world
There you see, in the sky, even in this insane world
Ride on Back
All we need is your sympathy

Stars fall out of the sky, words turned into lies
Drunk with power, they forced us to hate
I sacrifice all my life. The evolution was so wrong
he heart it yearns, for a love that's pure and true
The place, it crumbles to the ground

But I want you.. see you again

Kodomo no Jikan: Ni Gakki OP Single - Guilty Future by Eri Kitamura

Kodomo no Jikan: Ni Gakki OPLast week I reviewed the ED theme song for the Kodomo no Jikan: Ni Gakki anime (here). Maybe I should have written about the OP first! So here it is... The song is sung by Eri Kitamura.

Tracklist:

1. Guilty Future
2. Sakubou -Michikake-
3. Guilty Future (Instrumental)
4. Sakubou -Michikake- (Instrumental)

6/10 Guilty Future feels like a techno song and a times even like hardcore Trance song. And strangely enough, I don't find it bad! I'm usually not the one to like such songs, but this one is weirdly addictive... What do you think about this song??

Katekyo Hitman Reborn! OP5 Single - last cross by Masami Mitsuoka

last cross by Masami Mitsuoka Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, is an ongoing anime series adapted from a manga written and illustrated by Akira Amano. It's one of those animes that I've never heard of and are apparently quite popular! The plot revolves around the life of a young boy named Tsunayoshi Sawada, who finds out that he is the next in line to become the boss of the most powerful Mafia organization, the Vongola Famiglia. As such, the Vongola's most powerful hitman, a gun-toting infant named Reborn, is sent to tutor "Tsuna" on how to become a respectable boss. It has become one of the best-selling Weekly Shōnen Jump manga with several of its volumes becoming top-sellers in Japan. The OP5 theme song is by Masami Mitsuoka.

Tracklist

01. last cross
02. Silent of me
03. Desperate
04. last cross (TV version)

8/10 I really enjoyed listening to last cross! It's one of those guitar-driven songs that has a catchy melody and cool rocky feel to it... And even though the singer's voice is nothing out of the ordinary, it's a nice feel good song!

Check out the Katekyo Hitman Reborn OP5 in HD:

Chrome Shelled Regios OP Single - Brave your Truth by Daisy x Daisy

Chrome Shelled Regios OPChrome Shelled Regios is the anime adaptation of a Japanese light novel series by Shusuke Amagi, with illustrations by Miyu. The OP theme song is sung by Daisy x Daisy who happens to be Nana Mizuki's sister!!

Tracklist:

1. Brave your truth
2. Brave your truth inst.
3. Brave your truth inst. w/z Cho
4. Brave your truth DA Meta Restoration mix

5.5/10 I had a hard time giving a rating for this song. I'm not usually into techno/trance songs, but I guess this one's not that bad. It kind of reminds me of some Nami Tamaki songs, only with stronger and better vocals. But I also think that it's the kind of song that can become quickly irritating, after too many listens... What do you think?

Kaiba OP ED Album - Seira Kagami

Seira KagamiAt last!! I've been waiting for this for so long now... The Kaiba OP/ED Album is finally out. Back in October I wrote a review about them, stating that they were my favorite OP and ED last season (here). Finally I get to hear the full version of the Kaiba ED, Carry Me Away!

Tracklist:

1. Follow Me feat. Sound Around (Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari theme song)
2. Never (Kaiba OP)
3. roundabout (Noramimi ED)
4. Kodoku no Hikari (Majin Tantei Nogami Neuro ED)
5. Super Special (CHAOS HEAD ED)
6. Carry Me Away (Kaiba ED)

Listen to Carry Me Away here:

10/10 The full version is even better than I had anticipated... The song is really suited to the mysterious and sad anime that is Kaiba. It is beyond beautiful. I'm still not sure if I prefer the OP Never, or the ED. Both are so inspiring. Too bad, the rest of the OP/ED Album is just crap... I thought that Seira had a promising future, but maybe not. She's done mostly bad songs after Kaiba!

Fragile Sayonara Tsuki no Haikyo OP/ED Single - Aoi Teshima

Fragile WiiLet's venture into the realm of video games... I know I rarely do this, but for such wonderful music, I couldn't help myself!
Fragile Sayonara Tsuki no Haikyo is a role-playing video game for the Nintendo Wii. It was developed by tri-Crescendo and the team at Namco responsible for PlayStation 2 RPGs Seven: Molmorth no Kiheitai and Venus & Braves, and published by Namco Bandai Games. The game was released in Japan on January 22, 2009; and no date has been set for its release in the other regions as of yet.
Fragile is set in a post-apocalyptic near future world that has lost its light and is covered in a dense fog. Almost all the world's population has vanished, and the cities have been left abandoned. The game places the player in the shoes of Seto, a young boy.
The OP and ED theme songs for the game are both sung by Aoi Teshima, of Gedo Senki fame (Tales of Earthsea).

Tracklist:

1. Hikari
2. Tsuki no Nukumori

Fragile Sayonara Tsuki no Haikyo
9.5/10 Ever since I heard her voice in the song Teru no Uta, I've been a huge fan of Aoi Teshima. Her crystal clear voice is so pure and beautiful, that it makes her songs shine with just a piano accompanying her. Hikari is no different... It's such a delight to hear her sing. Too bad, the song is this short. A little longer would have been even better!

Listen to the full Fragile OP song Hikari here:

9/10 The Ending Theme song, Tsuki no Nukumori is also heavenly! This time it's not just a piano that's accompanying Aoi's beautiful voice, but also a guitar. The melody is just as beautiful as for the OP. Aoi Teshima's songs are always so calm and have this soothing feel to them... Another pure delight!

Sora wo Miageru Shoujo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai OP Single - Anemoi by Eufonius

eufoniusI'm sorry I haven't posted much these past few days. I was so caught up in the Ongaku forums, that I didn't have much time left! It's expanding at such a rapid pace! We already have 327 members! Thank you so much to all the people that have joined... If you want to be part of the community join here.

Sora o Miageru Shōjo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai (The World Reflected in the Eyes of the Girl who Looks Up at the Sky, what a mouthful!) is an anime television series which is a continuation of Kyoto Animation's two-episode original video animation series Munto, and began airing in Japan on January 14, 2009 on Chiba TV. The OP theme song is called Anemoi by Eufonius.

Tracklist:

1. Anemoi
2. Kuusou Teien
3. Anemoi (off vocal)
4. Kuusou Teien (off vocal)

7/10 I remember Eufonius for their lovely OP song for the Noein anime. They always manage to write very pleasant-sounding songs! This one is no different! I love the way it starts, with the string orchestra... The singer has a beautiful and soothing voice. That and the beautiful string arrangements coupled with a catchy melody make for a beautiful song. There's also a really nice piano playing at times. There's a couple of beat changes (especially towards the end) which make the song sound even more powerful...
