Ga-Rei Zero Character Song Vol.1 - Kagura & Yomi

The first Ga-Rei Zero Character Song Vol.1 was just released. It features two songs sung by Chihara Minori & Mizuhara Kaoru, the two main voice actresses in Ga-Rei Zero.

Tracklist:

1. Futari Shikai Nakatta
2. sentimental cool
3. Futari Shikai Nakatta (off vocal)
4. sentimental cool (off vocal)

4.5/10 I'm sorry for all the Minori Chihara fans, but I'm still not into her voice. Especially when she starts singing those high notes with that weird vibrato, it just hurts my ears. Maybe if the song in itself was good, the rating would have been higher, but the melody is just bad, and it feels too cheesy for me...

3/10 This song is really unbearable. It feels like a Hello! Project song... I hate when japanese singers sing with that creepy cute voice. Just sing with your normal voice, is it too much to ask?? As for the music in this song, it's even cheesier than for the first song! I really don't like it!

Ga-Rei Sounyuuka & Image Song Shuu - Yuri-mu Croquette

Ga-Rei Sounyuuka & Image Song Shuu Yuri-mu Croquette came out yesterday, after the final episode of Ga Rei Zero aired in Japan. It is not the first OST but rather the Ga Rei Zero Insert Song Collection Album. I was so happy when it got released, since it contains so many great songs that were included in really awesome scenes throughout the anime. Ga Rei Zero has been one of my favorite animes this season, and it's really sad for me to see that there's only one episode I haven't seen yet. I hope there's a second season after this one! This anime has been quite a ride for me. I didn't really expect this at all when I first read what it was about. I thought it would be a sort of Bleach or Soul Eater clone. But not to dismiss these 2 animes, Ga Rei Zero has been really superior on every aspects. I loved it that they misled the viewers after the first episode and SPOILERS killed off the whole cast. Even after that, the story was still intense and the characters so loveable! Yomiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!! Sigh...

Anyway, you can download the full album here.

Tracklist:

1. Dark Side of the Light (~Shika Image~)
2. Paradise Lose (TV Size)
3. Koko Kara, Kore Kara. (Yomi to Kagura no Deai, Shinrai ni Musubitsuku Katei wo Image)
4. Unusual Days (Taisaku Shitsu no Nakama Tachi to no Tanoshii Jikan wo Image)
5. Reality awake (Tsuchimiya Kagura Image)
6. Eien -TOWA- (Isayama Mei Image)
7. Tamakui (Sesshouseki Image)
8. Distance point (Attouteki na Chikara Category A Kashita Yomi wo Image)
9. Blue Butterfly (Aoi Chou wo Image. Zetsubou Battle. Attouteki na Haiboku.)
10. Chinkon no Tabi he (Yomi no Kokoro wo Image)
11. AI (Tsuchimiya Kagura Melody)
12. if (Isayama Yomi Melody)
13. Reincarnation (Tsuchimiya Kagura Isayama Yomi Image)
14. Yume no Ashioto ga Kikoeru

7/10 There are so many awesome songs here I don't know where to start. I think I'll do a more detailled review later on... Most songs on Ga-Rei Sounyuuka & Image Song Shuu Yuri-mu Croquette are either from Faylan or yozuca*. I really like the first track called Dark Side of the Light by Faylan which was in the very first episode during the battle scene. And then of course one of my favorite tracks is 7. Tamakui by Yousei Teikoku which played during the intense battle between Yomi and Mei in episode 8. I don't remember during which episodes these tracks came up, but I love track 11, 12 and 13. What's really amazing is that track 11. AI by yozuca* and 12. if by Faylan are actually two distinct songs (both of them beautiful) with the same music, and when put together they become track 13. Reincarnation by yozuca* & Faylan!

This is the first song Dark Side of the Light by Faylan from the first episode:

This song is Tamakui by Yousei Teikoku from episode 8:

Lyrics (English):
If my saint-like eyes emit pain,
will you turn away?
A passion releasing Trick.

Our crumbling pace won’t return.
Don’t leave me with my hand stretched out.

These tender days haven’t disappeared yet,
I won’t allow us to have disgraced memories.

This is the paradise of betrayal.
At the end of my wandering heart,
I search for a light and words of prayer I can send to you.
My imprisoned wings
fly towards the distant sky.
I want to believe that we are not alone.

We understand (We search)
within this bond
we won’t let go (we won’t separate from)
our beginning Destiny.

With this new wish, our chains are being removed.
At that time, will we be allowed to rest?
Into a deep sleep…

This small hope makes me strong
because it seems to be dyed in warmth.

If this fleeting life is resurrected,
I’ll be led to love once again.

The ephemeral preparations in my heart
will be washed away with the world’s end.
I won’t give up, now I’ll search for our joint future.
These torn scattering wings
will fly into the sky.
I won’t forget, our only Crystal.

Shine (Dazzle)
We won’t separate…
We won’t let go (we won’t separate from)
our promised Destiny.

Lost the Paradise, Ah!

These tender days haven’t disappeared yet,
I won’t allow us to have disgraced memories.

This is the paradise of betrayal.
At the end of my wandering heart,
I search for a light and words of prayer I can send to you.
My imprisoned wings
fly towards the distant sky.
I want to believe that we are not alone.

We understand (We search)
Within this bond
we won’t avert (we won’t take away)
our gaze from our Paradise Lost

Lyrics (Kanji):
聖なる瞳が　痛みを映したら
振り向いてごらん？
情熱放つTrick

Destiny

Destiny

Lost the paradise, Ah!

Paradise Lost

Ga-Rei Zero - Full OP song Paradise Lost by Minori Chihara

The full version of the Ga-Rei Zero opening song is out. I know some of you didn't understand the 5.5/10 rating I gave for this song. Well, after listening to the full song, I can't really say that my feelings have changed. I don't think the melody is that great, and I'm not a big fan of Minori Chihara's voice. Anyway, you can download the full OP single here!

Here's the PV for the song:

New Series ED - Ga Rei Zero

Let's continue our journey and review anime music from new shows this season. Ga Rei Zero is the latest manga-to-anime series about afterschool spirit-hunting. Hmmm, spirit-hunting is starting to get old... But anyway, this new show does not yet have an OP and the ED has already changed once. Is this starting to become a trend? (Macross Frontier anyone?). The trusted website Anime News Network states that the OP is really the second ED... We'll see I guess.

6/10 The first ED is a slow rocky number called Yume no Ashioto ga Kikoeru by Mizuhara Kaoru. It's not bad really. Check it out:

5.5/10 The second ED (and possible OP) is called Paradise Lost by Minori Chihara. It's an uptempo song and the singer has a really wierd voice, especially when she starts yelling. Check it out:

So tell me what you think about these two songs, and write a comment goddamnit!
