Pandora Hearts ED - Maze by Savage Genius

I still haven't watched the first Pandora Hearts episode (shame on me...), but I'm happy that Savage Genius is doing the ED theme song, which is called Maze. They must love doing songs for kajiura-related animes, because this is the third anime they're doing with music composed by Yuki Kajiura (after Erementar Gerad and El Cazador). It can't be a coincidence right?? Anyway it's great to see them back after their last anime song, which was Just Tune from Yozakura Quartet (which I loved).

7/10 I can't say it's the best Savage Genius song I've heard, but it's also definitely not their worst. They're always capable of maintaining that same good quality throughout all their songs, and this one is no different... I'll have to listen to the full version of the song though, to really make up my mind, so this rating is probably temporary.

Piano Sheets for Yozakura Quartet OP - JUST TUNE by Savage Genius

I've always had a soft spot for Savage Genius, ever since I heard their OP theme song for Erementar Gerad, Forever. I thought they would just turn out to be a one hit wonder group, but boy was I wrong! Their latest song, JUST TUNE from the Yozakura Quartet anime is really addictive. UPDATE on Anime Song Face Off 1

Savage Genius vs. Mamiko Noto

58% of you voted for Mamiko Noto's version of Aizome. That was a real hard one for me. And I'm still undecided as ever, so I guess that means I like both songs equally.


I think that both songs have a different style and feel to them. While, Mamiko Noto's song is more calm and focuses on the voice, the Savage Genius version sounds more epic and dramatic. I like the music arrangements better in Aizome by Savage Genius, whereas the best voice of these two versions is without a doubt Mamiko's! She has the sweetest voice ever, and like I said before, I find her voice to be also quite soothing and magical. I would have loved hearing a version of Aizome with Mamiko Noto singing on the Savage Genius version. The orchestral arrangements of that version are so good!

So even if the winner of this Face Off is Mamiko Noto, for me it's still a tie, and that's why my rating for these two songs is 9/10.

New Series OP and Ed - Yozakura Quartet

We continue our tour of new OPs and EDs for this new anime season. Let's look at the opening and ending song of Yozakura Quartet this time! I don't know why but I've always been a fan of Savage Genius, so I was really happy to see that the OP was from Savage Genius.

8.5/10 So here is JUST TUNE by Savage Genius. I think it's really catchy, like all their songs. So I really like it, even if the techno beat surprised me the first time. (Download Full OP here)

6.5/10 And here's the ED, it's called Nagareboshi by ROUND TABLE featuring Nino. I guess it's not bad.

Crappy Anime Music at its best!!

Ok,I stumbled upon this gem, and it's just too bad not to share. It's a video with a recap of all the performances at the Animelo Summer Live 2008 Concert. And let me tell you this, it's full of craptastic songs and awful live singing! At least use lipsynching if you can't sing to save your life. Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit... Maybe it's because the sound quality is so bad, or maybe because there's just a few seconds of each performance. Even if the majority of the songs is quite bad, I still liked a couple of them.
